Alyce F Sherman

Alyce (Ferrell) Sherman (79) passed away on August 23, 2021, in Wadsworth, Ohio surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Barberton, Ohio on July 15, 1942, to William and Eileen Ferrell. She was a 1960 graduate of Barberton High School, a long-time member of Saint Augustine Church in Barberton, a member of the “Bunco Club”, and retired after many years from BFG Credit Union.

Alyce loved God and left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace. She prayed individually for each member of her family every night and was an example to all that knew her. She also enjoyed coffee, shopping with her girls, decorating for every season and holiday, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Hallmark Movies. Alyce’s favorite time of the year was Christmas when she would spend lots of time with family, attended the Akron Children’s Christmas Tree Festival, baking cookies and making everyone’s favorite baklava.

Alyce is preceded in death by her parents, brother Billy Ferrell and sister-in-law Cathy Labbate. She is survived by her loving husband Phillip of 59 years and their four children: Phillip (Theresa) Sherman, Tim (Lisa) Sherman, Alyson (Rick) Cope and Gina (Scott) Erwin.

Alyce (Grammy) loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to play with and love on all of her babies. She had nine grandchildren: Ricky (Stephanie) Cope, Katie (Tommy) Henderson, Kaycee (Ben) Meister, Lauren (Jon) Porter, Brittnee (Dan) Knipp, Anthony (Kristian) Sherman, Hunter Sherman, Corey Erwin, and Harper Sherman (JT Koprivec). She also had nine great grandchildren and one more on the way: Kaden, Lucas, Tinslee, Peyton, Bradly, Saylor, Weston, Miles, Jolene Alyce and Baby Everly due in December. She is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tony and Moni Sherman and sister-in-law Donna Ferrell.

Alyce will be missed by all, and we cannot wait to see her again in heaven.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m Saturday, September 25, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Barberton, 204 6th St. NW with Rev. Bill Browne officiating. Friends may call one half hour prior to mass.
