Barbara A. Carr, 74 years , of Akron went home to be with the Lord, October 23, 2015. A life resident of the area, Barbara graduated from Garfield High School and Akron City Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating she worked for City Hospital and then Goodyear Tire and Co. for 34 years and a nudge.


She was an active member of Firestone Park Presbyterian Church and started the CARE team between ministries. She participated in Indian Maidens with her daughter Carole Ann. She was an Elder and Deacon and was active in the Storytellers group. Barbara loved to travel, read, animals, and spending time with family, friends and  having a nice glass of wine.


Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anita Ripley; beloved husband, Rodney; she is survived by her daughter, Carole (Kevin) Stessney of Akron; brother, Jim (Linda) Ripley of Canal Fulton; grandchildren, Matthew Stessney, Tyler Shae Stessney and Kaitlin Stessney;  five nieces and nephews;  nine great nieces and nephews and her cat, Mittie Kitty.


Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd Akron. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Firestone Park  Presbyterian Church, 275 S. Firestone Blvd, where friends may call one hour prior to service  with Rev. Sue Curtis officiating. Cremation to follow. For those that wish, memorial contributions  can be made to the Church.
