Barbara Lucille Litz, a remarkable soul who graced this world for 101 years, embarked on her journey to heaven on August 15, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of her son, Elwood and her daughter-in-law, Mary, in their home in Rock Hill, SC. Born on July 1, 1922, in Akron, Ohio to Harry F. Wentz and Emma B. Wentz (nee Willner), Barbara's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the bonds that connect us all.

Barbara's education at Akron Public Schools laid the foundation for a life well-lived. In 1945, she united her path with Elwood B. Litz, after his service in the South Pacific. Their love story spanned over 42 beautiful years until Elwood's passing in 1988. Together, they weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys, creating a legacy of love and commitment.

Barbara leaves behind a cherished legacy carried on by her sons, Elwood E. Litz (Mary) and Jeffrey N. Litz (Jane). Through them, her spirit continues to shine brightly. Her presence will forever be felt by her loving grandchildren: Aaron J. Litz (Amy), Andrea Litz Moore (Josh), Adam J. Litz (Brooke), and Justin Litz Ridgers (Lance), Bryan Webster and Tara Webster Hyde. Her light also graces her great-grandchildren: Jonah Litz, Abby Litz, and Harper Litz, who will carry her warmth into the future.  She was also a cherished aunt to nieces Karen Sue Gregor, Kathy Ann Wilson, Christine Wendelken, Helen Williams and Trudy Bratten. She was preceded in death by her dear brother, William Wentz, and sister-in-law, Helen Wentz.

Barbara and Elwood shared a profound passion for community service, both serving as senior officials in the Boy Scouts of America. Their dedication earned them the prestigious Silver Fawn and Silver Beaver awards. Barbara's professional journey led her to retire from the Akron Board of Education, leaving an indelible impact on many lives.

With a heart full of wanderlust, Barbara and her beloved husband explored the corners of the world. From the heartlands of America to the distant shores of Europe, South America, and Africa, they gathered experiences that enriched their souls. She also reveled in the camaraderie of her AARP companions, embarking on unforgettable journeys that deepened her friendships.

In 2019, Barbara embarked on a new chapter, relocating from her cherished Akron, Ohio to South Carolina to be closer to her sons and their families.

As we bid farewell to Barbara, let us remember her with gratitude for a life lived to the fullest. Her memory will forever remain a source of strength, a beacon of love, and a reminder of the profound impact one individual can make on the lives they touch.  In the tapestry of life, Barbara Lucille Litz's thread was one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. May her legacy continue to inspire us all.
