Betty Lou King,93, passed away peacefully to life eternal with her Lord and Savior on March 30, 2022.
She was born and raised in Altoona, PA. After graduating from High School, she went to Bryn Mawr Hospital becoming a registered nurse. She met and married her loving husband in1953 and in the ensuing years worked in pediatrics in hospitals in PA., MA. and Ohio.
She raised five children in Akron and was very active in PTA, OES, Amaranth, Cauldron, Shrine, Rainbow Girls and a longtime member of Family of Faith Church, active in Lydia Circle. Betty Lou loved to travel and visited six continents. She was Worthy Matron of Fernleaf Chapter OES in 1976 and Mother Advisor of Akron Rainbow Girls. She was dedicated to helping others all her life and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her smile was her defining feature. She lit up a room! She has "fought the good fight, she has finished the race, and she has kept the faith".
Betty Lou was preceded in death by her son, Lt. JG Edward F. King. She will be sadly missed by her soulmate and husband, Ed; children, Nancy (William) Kesting, MN, Eric (Holly) King, CO, Suzanne (David) Turich, OH, and Sarah (Stephen) Smith, NJ. She also leaves beloved grandchildren, special nieces and nephews and many friends.
O.E.S will conduct a service at 11 am Monday, April 4, 2022, at Family of Faith Church, 800 E. Market St Akron, Ohio 44305, followed by Funeral Services with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to service time. For those that wish, Memorial contributions in Betty's name can be made to the church or a charity of your choice.
