Cecelia E. Linscott, 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. She was born in Corning, Ohio, to the late Andrew Barton Perini and Angelina Laney Perini on April 27, 1918.
Cecelia's quick wit and sense of humor will be missed. She loved to sing and play guitar. As a teen, she was athletic and enjoyed playing baseball, volleyball and basketball. She was a faithful follower of her beloved Cleveland Indians. Cecelia had a talent for sewing and enjoyed making clothes for the family. Cecelia loved to write whether it was in a diary, stats for the Cleveland Indians, or letters that she wrote every day to family, friends, and pen pals. She loved card making and would send family and friends one of her creations on birthdays and holidays. She attended St. Bernard's Church, Corning, OH, and St. Peter's Curch, Akron, Ohio.
She was the eighth born of nine siblings-Lena (Joe) Moirano, Rose (Dan) Thimmes, Andrew (Garnet) Perini, Mary (Fred) Gerstenslager, Matilda (Edward) Gammeter, Theresa (John) Tyrrell, Michael (Judy) Perini, Helen (James) Kranyik. All have passed away as well as sister-in-law, Irene (Harold) Roberts and brother-in-law, George Popa.
Cecelia is survived by her children, Bob (Eloise) Linscott and Judy (Murray) Kirkbride; grandsons, Michael Linscott and Rob (Sarah) Linscott; granddaughter, Tara Kirkbride; great-granddaughter, Zoe Linscott; sister-in-law, Bernice Popa; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family thanks the staff at The Merriman Nursing Home and the Visitng Nurse Hospice for the wonderful care she was given.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron, where,Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Fr. Jared Orndorff officiating. Private family burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.A complete notice will appear in Wednesday's paper. THE FAMILY HAS REQUESTED NO FLOWERS.
