In Loving Memory of Dale L. Adams
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dale L. Adams, age 83, who left us on November 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Leroy Sr. and Esther; his dear older brother, Leroy Jr.; his beloved younger sister, Joann; and his wives, Marianne, who shared 38 wonderful years, and Fay, with whom he spent 12 beautiful years.
Dale is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, with whom he shared 9 joyful years, and her children, Jeanne (Stan), Rev. Chad (Shelly), and Donna. He leaves behind 13 adoring grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren, as well as his own children, Jewel (Bryan) and Crystal (Jeremy), his seven “grand sidekicks”, and a multitude of extended family and dear friends.
Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dale's early life was filled with the melodies of his father, a dedicated music teacher at Christian colleges. These musical experiences sowed the seeds of Dale’s lifelong passion for music, which he beautifully integrated into his adult life in countless heartfelt ways.
Dale had an unwavering love for everything “west of the Mississippi.” His heart belonged to the vast open spaces, the majestic horses, and the vibrant ranching life that shaped his dreams and passions. Marianne, originally from “east of the Mississippi,” brought her unique grace and warmth into Dale’s life. Dale's deep connection to the land was evident when he maintained a herd of 75 horses, leasing them to the YMCA, church camps, and various riding stables, bringing joy and freedom to many.
His dedication extended beyond horses; Dale nurtured a flock of sheep and a herd of cows among other animals, always eager to support local livestock farms and Ohio cowboys. His yearly returns to the Flint Hills of Kansas for cattle gathering at the Locke Grass and Cattle Operation, along with his assistance at other ranches, showcased his unwavering commitment and love for ranch life.
A true educator at heart and by profession, Dale dedicated 30 years to teaching in Kansas and Ohio before retiring from Wadsworth City Schools, where he taught 7th grade Social Studies. His love for teaching transcended the classroom as he eagerly shared his ranch life experiences and taught multiple classes at church.
Dale's devotion to the Bible was profound. As a committed member of the Gideons, he participated in many Bible distributions, often journeying on horseback to reach local communities. His favorite books of the Bible included Proverbs and James.
Even in retirement, Dale embraced life with vigor, still riding horses and driving tractors at the age of 82. His love for long countryside drives and savoring meals at “Ma and Pa” restaurants brought him immense joy and peace.
Dale had a zest for life and enjoyed people. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who played a role in making his life so full, rich and wonderful.
