Donna Mae Backner

Donna M. Backner, 87, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, April 29, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. She was born November 2, 1934 in Peru, Indiana to the late Alton and Birdie (Babcock) Donaldson.

Donna enjoyed reading, shopping and spending time at the Casino with her husband, Richard. In her early years she also enjoyed modeling and was an avid donator to the ASPCA.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to Gina and Hanna who were her nurses at Summa Hospice for all their loving care and support.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Michelle Smith and brother, Gene Donaldson/ She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Erin (Jody) Barwick and Sherri Backner (Greg Mercer); son-in-law, Frank Smith; grandchildren, Alisha Smith (David Kyle), Kristen Smith and Brittany Carlin; great grandchildren, Emma Dobson, Jace Winkler and Jaxon Kyle.

A Gathering will take place from 4-5 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron.

Per Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donna's name to Lakemore Dogs Home and Bound, 2214 Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44312.
