Dorothy L Culver, 92, passed away peacefully December 1, 2013, at Pleasant View Health Care Center.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Akron to Benjamin F and Anna L (Mohler) Martin Metz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, whom she married on December 4, 1944.
A 1939 graduate of Stow High School, Dorothy attended Kent State University prior to joining the United States Navy. She served from July 1944 to February 1946, attaining the rank of Mailman Third Class, stationed in New York City. She had a great love of animals, especially her beloved dachshunds – Ricky, Heidi 1, Heidi 2, and Schotzie – and her cat, Kiki.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Ted Lazar; her brother Wayne (Abbie) Martin, niece Kim Martin Blake, nephews Scott Martin and Kevin (Debbie) Martin, and her special friends, Betty and Frank Witzl of Akron.
The family extends our special thanks to the staffs at Pleasant View Health Care Center and Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living for their care and comfort during Dorothy’s last days.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, with Reverend Marylu Warstler officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
