Elmer Q. Blake, 94, passed away peacefully in his home in the early morning on April 12, 2017 after an extended illness. He was born in Huntington, WV on June 3, 1922 to the late M. Lucian and Mabell Searls Blake.
Elmer graduated from Kenmore High School and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after 44 years' service. He was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII and a Purple Heart recipient. His passions were fishing, farming and family. He can be remembered for his storytelling abilities and his incredible memory.
Preceded in death by his son, Karl R. Wile; grandsons, Timothy Blake and Ray Wile; he leaves to cherish his memory is beloved wife of fifty five years', Sarah; son, Larry Blake; daughters, Lynda S. Blake, Shelli Peters and Susan (Dave) Hughes; daughter-in-law, Victoria Wile and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. His cup runnith over. The family would like to send out a special thank you to our Summa Hospice Family for the wonderful care giving to Elmer.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd., Akron. A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas Gregory officiating. Inurnment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
