Enid L Russell
September 20, 1951 — April 27, 2022
Enid L. Russell, 70, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, April 27, 2022. She was born September 20, 1951 in Akron, Ohio to the late Robert and Janet (nee Russell) Russell.
She retired early from the City of Akron Sanitation Department to return to the University of Akron College of Engineering where she got a degree in Mapping and Surveying, something she was very proud of. Before that, she earned a Business Degree. She was a graduate of Kenmore High School class of 1969 where she was a member of the marching band all throughout high school. She attended the University of Akron and played in the marching band there as well. Enid later marched in the University of Akron Alumni marching band and the New Horizon Band of Summit and Stark County which she participated in for thirteen years.
She was an avid follower of all sports. She played on several softball teams as a catcher and later coached the sport as well. Enid was also well known in the Akron area for her skill at bowling. She bowled her entire life and competed on a travel team as a senior bowler. Enid also enjoyed dancing as she danced for many years at the Etta Mae Dance Studio in Kenmore as part of the Senior Line.
The absolute joy of her life in addition to her sports was being around all her wonderful nieces and nephews from the time they were born.
Enid loved everyone and everyone loved her. She knew no strangers. She had a laugh that would light up a room and loved being like a mother to Logan and Skylar.
Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anita Nolan. She is survived by her companion of twenty eight years, Carol Miller; sister, Claire Russell (Selma White); brother, Dale (Midge) Russell; nephews, Craig Bittner, Brian Russell, Robert Russell, Jeffrey (Crista) Miller and Michael J. Miller; nieces, Jenny Long, Sandra (Jason) Bartley and Linda (David) Tschappat; great nephews, Skylar Bittner, Logan Bittner, Coen Bartley, Ethan Miller, Jacob Miller, Shane Tschappat, Xavier Russell, Gavin Russell, Maverick Russell and Henry Russell; great nieces, Michaela Russell, Katrina Russell, Zandra Long, LilyAnn Bartley, Ravenna Bartley, Emilee Miller, Taylor Tschappat, Makenzie Miller and Allyson Miller; beloved dog, Timmy
A Memorial Service will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Firestone Park United Methodist Church, 250 N. Firestone Blvd, Akron, Ohio 44301 with Pastor Sam Martin officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service time. For those that wish, in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Enid's name can be made to the New Horizons Band of Summit and Stark County P.O.
