Evelyn Powell

Evelyn June Powell,90 passed away Feb.27,2014.

The second eldest of nine children Evelyn was preceded in death by parents Franklin H. & Clara E.(Nance)Overholt, sisters Ernestine Limbach,Alene Scalera,Lillian Whited,and brothers Alfred,Gerald,and Edward. she was also preceeded in death by the love of her life husband Wayman H. Powell to whom she remained married for 70 years. Evelyn is survived by sons Gary L.& Ronald D.(Jean) Powell,brother Paul(Catherine)Overholt ,sister Beatrice(John)Holeman,brother-in-law Galen Whited,and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Overholt. Also surviving are grandchildren Dawn Powell,Jennifer (Eric)Lawson,Michelle(Brooks)Greenleaf,Ryan(Jennifer )Powell ,and Kimberly Powell. Step Grandchildren Jeffrey (Adrienne)Hegedus,Kathryn(Richard)Genger,Robert(Laurie)Hegedus. Also numerous great grandchildren and 1 Great-great granddaughter.

Evelyn was a homemaker,a waitress for 14 years at Young's Restaurant during its heydays, and an electrician for a short time at Goodyear aircraft during the WWII She loved her grandchildren,traveling and playing bridge. She recently returned to Akron after living in Northport Fl. For 28 years.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the residents and staff at Rockynol for the warm welcome to mom. Also a huge thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Justin T. Rogers Care Center for their kindness and care of our Mother.

Cremation has taken place . A memorial service will take place on Sat., March 8, 2014 at 11:a.m. at the First Church of God,464 Northeast Ave.,Tallmadge, Oh. 44278. Interment will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home.
