George C. Pifer Jr., 84, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, September 4, 2017. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on October 1, 1932 to the late George and Margaret (Vargo)
Pifer.
George was a truck driver for Akron Packing, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Preceded in death by his grandson, Gary Knight; he leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife of 62 years Mary (Prough) Pifer; children, Joseph (Debbie) of Houston, TX; Deb Holmes; Michael Pifer, Lisa (Tim) Preib all of Akron; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Carol) of Atlanta and Robert (Brenda) of Clinton.
A mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St. SW Akron, Ohio 44314 with Fr. Michael B. Smith officiating. Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
