Gm James Herre

G.M. James Herre, 87, of Akron went home to be with the Lord September 24, 2020.

He was born on June 15, 1933 in Geneva, NY to the late Ralph and Eleanor (nee Mitchell) Herre.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. He received a master’s degree in History from Kent State University, became a schoolteacher, and eventually retired from First National Bank after over 20 years of service.

He loved his sports, especially baseball where he could recount just about any statistic. He loved his sweets, trivia, 50’s rock and roll, classic movies, spending time with his family, reading, and hiking in the metro parks. Best described as a gentleman and a gentle man, James had a pleasant disposition, along with a quirky sense of humor and quick wit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia (Ginnie) Miller; he leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances; children,

Laura (Michael) Humphries, Suzanne (Michael) Weinsheimer; grandchildren, Lucas and Isabella Humphries.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held.
