Irene A. Gromley, 89, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, September 8, 2016. A life resident of the area, Irene retired from the Sparkle Market with 20 years of service as a cashier.
As a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Irene was involved with the Altar/Rosary Society, St. Vincent DePaul, helped with the food bank, Holy Hour Ministries and worked Bingo 24 years. She was also a Sacristan for 35 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Lena Buck; husband, Don; she is survived by her children, DeEtta (Ken) Nettling, Darla Gromley, Denise (Mark) Ronk, Dawne (Bob) Schaffer and Rick Gromley; grandchildren, Ellen (Jesse), Katie (Greg), Joanna, Laura (Danny), Meghan (Todd), Michael (Meagan), Chelsey, Shane, Leah (Andy), Beau, Dane, Nathan, Kelly (Joe); great grandchildren, Lucas, Anna, Lincoln, Emme, Jordan and Daniel; brother-in-law, Harry (Sandra) Gromley and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hennis Care Centre for the wonderful care that was given to Irene.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St Sw Akron, Ohio 44314 with Rev. Samuel R. Ciccolini officiating.
