James V. McCauley, 96, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, October 24, 2018. A life resident of the area James was born June, 6,1922 to the late James and Aileen McCauley. He retired from Firestone T& R Co as a tire inspector after 44 years. James was a veteran of the United States  Army where he received a Bronze Star during WWII and was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

He once made the comment "Life isn't worthwhile unless you're helping another person". He spent 22 years as the director of the Food Pantry at

Immaculate Conception Church. He volunteered at the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank, Interval Brotherhood Home and the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

A big part of his life was working at Terrace Gardens which he loved to do. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and Cleveland Browns fan where he was a season ticket holder for many years. He was lucky enough to attend the first Cleveland Browns game at the Akron Rubber Bowl in 1948.

Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen; second wife, Elizabeth; siblings, John, Marion, Donald, Kathleen, Eileen and Patricia; he is survived by his daughter, Karen Fox and her Fiancé who was a best friend and a son he never had, Rick Stump.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Altercare of Brimfield and Hospice at Summa for the compassion and comfort they showed James and his family.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St SW, Akron with Rev. Fr. Michael B. Smith officiating. Burial to follow

at Holy cross cemetery where Firestone V.F.W Pots #3383 will conduct military honors. For those that wish, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society 3075 Smith Rd Suite 204, Akron, Ohio 44333 or Immaculate Conception Church.
