Jerry Ray Cox, born June 8, 1938, went to be with Jesus July 10, 2017, with family by his side. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1956, and apprenticed at B.F. Goodrich printshop, where he earned his Journeymans card in printing. Later in his career he worked with experimental deicers, and retired in 1987 with 30 years of service. After retirement he worked for the Akron Automobile Auction for several years, retiring in 2000.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army from September 1961 until discharge in 1967, as a military policeman at the Carlisle Barracks War College He met his wife Diana at a New Years Eve Party in 1959, whom he married in 1961. His joy was fishing and his four legged pal Greta, who he loved to take on long walks.

He was a member of Firestone Park Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. His church family was very special to him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Diane Cox, daughters Eva (Larry) Holler, Kim (Doug) Lorenz, his very special granddaughter Audrey Marie Holler, his Aunt Ethel Allred, and numerous cousins.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Firestone Park Presbyterian Church or Pay it Forward for Pets. The family would like to give special thanks to the Arbors of Stow for their wonderful care, and Akron General Medical Center ER.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd., Akron and one hour prior to service time on Friday, July 14 at Firestone Park Presbyterian Church, 275 S. Firestone Blvd, Akron where Rev. Francie Fischer will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m.. Burial to take place at a later date.
