John Lee Keener, 82, of Akron, died peacefully, Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic-Akron General hospital. He was born July 10th, 1938, in Parcoal, West Virginia to the late Delbert and Ruby (Skidmore) Keener and lived most of his life in the Barberton and Akron area.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his military service he was employed at PPG in Barberton for many years until his retirement. After his PPG retirement he worked at Loyal Oak Golf Course and Firestone County Club for many years. John enjoyed playing golf and visiting with his many friends at social clubs.
Surviving are sister, Judy Lepley of Barberton; brother, Ed Keener of Akron, and Bob Keener of Akron; Nieces and nephews; Ed Keener, Sandy Ralston, Brian Sherrill, Deb Weiss, Rob Keener and Mike Keener; as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Bettie Keener.
A graveside serve will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at Canal Fulton Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 we ask that those attending please wear masks and practice social distancing. For those that are unable to attend your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
