Marlena Denette Greth (maiden name Duffield) of Kenmore, Ohio passed away on Wednesday February 5 at Barberton Hospital at the age of 44.
She was born on January 12, 1970 in Irving, Texas to Carl and Mary Anne Duffield. She and her family moved shortly thereafter to Akron, Ohio where she grew up. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1988 alongside many of her lifelong friends.
In 1994 she married Lawrence Greth Jr. and they lived in Akron for their 20 years of marriage. She had a passion for leading and organizing projects. From her volunteer work at ETC show choir, to her Administrative Assistant position at Charles Schwab. She did many volunteer projects throughout her life including Habitat for Humanity, Have a Heart Radio-thon, The Holiday Tree Festival at Akron Children’s Hospital, and the Change Bandit Program at Akron Children’s Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Greth Jr; her two children: Desiree Cox, 21 years old; and Nicholas Greth, 9 years old; her sister, Anisa Ralls; and her parents Carl and Mary Anne Duffield. She is also survived by her many loving sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd Akron, OH 44314 from 4-8 pm on Wednesday February 12, 2014. There will be a mass of Christian Burial on Thursday February 13 at Immaculate Conception Church 2101 17th St. SW Akron, OH 44314 at 10 am with Fr. Michael B. Smith officiating. Burial to follow at Lakewood Cemetery. Afterwards there will be a reception at Immaculate Conception church.
