Mary M. Nockengost, 73, of Norton passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born September 18, 1941 in Akron, Ohio to Grace and George Ream. She was a 1959 graduate of Buchtel High School, and also graduated from Hammel Business College and the University of Akron with a degree in accounting.

Mary was a member of Billow Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a Past Deputy Grand Matron of Ohio and a DeMolay Mom. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Akron and Mt. Zwingli United Church of Christ, and was becoming a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Mary retired from Barberton Citizens Hospital with 37 years of service, the last 12 as Payroll Manager. She then worked part time for Levin Furniture in the office.

Mary was preceded in death by parents Grace and George, son William E. Swinhart Jr. and sister Ruth Fessler. She is survived by her husband George R. Nockengost, sister Roberta Foreman (Charles) of St. George, Utah, daughter Kristin Swinhart of Akron, son Donald Swinhart (Brenda) of Beloit, step-son Kevin Nockengost (Tari) of Cuyahoga Falls, step-daughter Keara Mitchhart (Gary) of Bath, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, OH 44314. Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 North Prospect St., Akron, OH 44304, with Pastor David Nevergall officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Mary’s Ohio. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:00 on Tuesday.
