Nicholas V. Paolano Jr, 87, of Doylestown went home to be with the Lord, Friday December 29, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born on September 29, 1936 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Nicholas V. Sr, and Margret (nee Santilli) Paolano.

He attended High School in Clinton, OH and then was a member of the first Graduating class of the new Norton High School after the two schools merged together. He attended College at The Ohio State University graduating with a double major in Horticulture and Teaching. He was also involved in the United States Army ROTC for 7 years while at college and served active duty before receiving an Honorable Discharge.

He spent his entire career as an educator, starting off in New Philadelphia, and then returning to Norton High School, to teach Biology and Earth Science. At Norton he was very active whether running the clock at football and basketball games, coaching Forensics and even at times directing student theatrical productions. He also coached many teams from golf and football to his favorite sport, girls’ basketball, where he helped take The Norton Lady Panthers to the State semifinals in the early 1980’s. With his busy schedule, he was still able to coach his sons in little league baseball and Pee Wee football, and work with his daughter in Basketball, helping her to become a standout player and coach.

In October 1965, he married the love of his life, Judith (Prough) Paolano and they had three children, Mark, Nick (Giselle) and Julie Solis. The family grew over the years to include grandchildren, Meghan, Johnathan, Olivia, Trevor (Bridget) and Rylee and two great grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Earl and Martha Prough, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Doylestown Health Care Center and Traditions Hospice for the love and care of our father in the last few months of his life. In lieu of flowers, one can make a donation to their favorite charity in our father’s name.
