Paul D. Schraft passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025. Born in Angola, New York, Paul spent many years in Bolivar, Ohio, before retiring to Foley, Alabama.
A gifted athlete, Paul was an outstanding basketball player at Lake Shore High School in Angola, NY, where he set numerous scoring records. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Schilling AFB in Salina, KS, and Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. After his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Buffalo. Paul enjoyed a successful career in banking, serving as Vice President of Commercial Lending for Liberty National Bank and Key Bank. Upon retirement, he embraced a slower pace of life in Foley, Alabama, where he spent his time golfing, boating, and caring for his beloved pets, Molly and Ally.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Alice Ackendorf, Ethel Vidmar, Joyce Dalen, Raymond Schraft, and Robert F. Schraft. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Schraft, and his four children: David Schraft of Bolivar, Ohio; Craig Schraft of Columbus, Ohio; Robert Schraft of Canal Winchester, Ohio; and Michelle (Eric) Moses of Copley, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren—Jordan (Joanna), Justyn, Jaci, and Jayden Moses, as well as Robert (Zack) and Brendan Schraft—and a cherished great-grandfather to his “special peanut,” Charlotte Moses.
Paul will be laid to rest with military honors at Spanish Fort Military Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama, at a later date.
