Richard D Johnson

Richard Johnson,73, along with beloved dog Max, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2021. Born on April 1, 1947, he grew up in the Coventry area and after graduating from Coventry High School in 1966, he joined the military. First, in the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam. After four years of service, he then joined the United States Army, where he served an additional four years. After completing his service, he moved with his family back to the Coventry area.

Preceded in death by his father, Jessie Johnson; stepson, James Robert Kerns II; grandson, Gabriel Richard Johnson and great granddaughter, Sophia Sue Markie. He is survived by his wife of twenty five years, Patricia Johnson; mother, Rosalie Johnson; sister, Debi (Lindsey) Herring; sons, Kevin (Tammy) Johnson, Dave (Nicole) Johnson; daughter, Mary Johnson (Tonee Brunson); stepdaughters, Jeri Sampson, Jamie Luli, Jodie (Joseph) Grescovich, Johnna Williams; thirty grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; niece, Amanda McCaskey; two great nieces and beloved dog Erma.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Page officiating. Private family burial with military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers for those that wish, memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
