Robert (Bob), age 67, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014.

Bob was a resident of Uniontown, Ohio where he lived for the last 29 years with his wife, Jan Bier, who passed away October 2, 2013. Bob was a loving son, brother, cousin, husband, father, and grand father. Bob served in the United States Navy. Bob dedicated 35 years to the Akron Public Schools, where he was an elementary teacher at Sam Salem, formerly Highland Park Elementary. He especially enjoyed teaching science and technology to his students. Following retirement, Bob was an active volunteer driver for the American Red Cross Association and had recently begun volunteer work with the Akron Food Bank.

Bob married his wife of 29 years, Jan, on September 1, 1984. Together they shared a love of family, education, the teaching profession and social gatherings with dear friends, most notably their book club, euchre group, and New Year's Eve companions.

Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His laughter, playful spirit and silly jokes, were always highlights of their visits together. Bob's children, family, and friends will forever work to keep his memory alive in the eyes of his young grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jan Bier, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Katrina (Kay) Given, and many additional beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Surviving family members include; son, Paul (Paula) Bier, grandchildren, Zane and Wyatt Bier. Step-daughter Kara (Andrew) Mitchell, step-grandchildren, Winston and Katherine Mitchell. Sister, Darlene (Chuck) Heinl, half-brothers, Wayne (Kim) Given, Scott (Darlene) Given, and John (Arenia) Given and many additional members of the Bier, Given, and Moore families.

Calling hours will be held at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Home. 788 Kenmore Blvd, on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services to be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 1 PM. Burial service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 25810 Romig Rd, on Monday at 10:30 AM. PLEASE MEET AT THE FUNERAL HOME ON MONDAY BY 10 AM FOR PROCESSION TO CEMETERY
