Roland E Shumaker

Roland Edward (Eddie) Shumaker passed away peacefully October 19th, 2024 four days after a necessary high-risk surgery. He fought with everything he had, but it just wasn't enough.

Born November 10th, 1969 to Roland Shumaker and Patricia Stair, Eddie lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio. He was a graduate of Woodridge High School, class of 1988, and worked at Akron Steel Treating as a foreman until 2013 when he could no longer work due to his illness.

Eddie loved fishing, wood working, pool, darts, late 70's rock (especially Ozzy) and all things Cleveland sports. He couldn't wait to see Nick Chubb play again and yell at the TV. Eddie truly loved his life and his family, but absolutely loathed Trump.

Preceded in death by his parents; step-dad, Joseph Stair; uncles, Jim Nestich and Bob Haney and aunt, Debbie Coleman. Eddie is survived by his wife of 15 years, Elizabeth Shumaker, his beloved sons; Edward, Richard and Carter Shumaker; brothers, Michael (Jackie) Stair, Jeff Stair, and Sister, Kara (Larry) McCormick; aunts, Janet Nestich, Diane Haney, Karen Ward and so many cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Summa (City) Hospital for their tireless efforts and genuine love for Eddie these past few weeks, with a special thanks to RN's Carter and Mel. We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.

Friends may from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Schlup-Pucak Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron Ohio 44314. A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of life to immediately follow at The American Legion, Post 449 at 1090 Kenmore Blvd, Akron Ohio 44314.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help cover expenses.
