Russell N Jones

Russel N. Jones, 86 of Akron, went home to be with the Lord, October 7, 2018. A life resident of Akron, Russ retired from ATT/Ohio Bell after 32 yrs. of faithful service.

A Navy Korean war veteran, he retired after 34yrs. from the Navy Reserves. Russ was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of Star Lodge #187 F & A.M., A.A.S.R Valley of Akron where he was presented the prestigious Meritorious Service Award in 2014, Ravenna Chapter #46 O.E.S previously Anna Dean Chapter #595, Firestone Post #3383 V.F.W, F.O.P.A #31 Cuyahoga Falls. Russ was a student of all History, especially American Civil War. He also loved Nascar, Jazz and Blue Grass.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Jones; son, Kelly; he is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his sons, Brian of Houston, TX, Larry Shenise of Akron, Robert (Diane) Butcher of N. Canton; grandchildren, Joseph (Audrey) Butcher and Jessica Butcher; Sister, Jeannine Edmundson of Massillon, Marilyn (Phil) Ellis of Tennessee and many nephews.

Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Schlup Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron where Ravenna O.E.S services will be held at 6 p.m. followed by Star Lodge Masonic services. Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Naval Military Honors. The family would like to thank Absolute Hospice for the wonderful care that Diane, Shelby and Mandy gave Russ.
