Vivian Louise White, 83, of Barberton went to meet Jesus, December 27, 2024. Vivian was born March 8, 1941. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mary Cork; her mom, Mildred (Cork) White; father, David White and sisters, Leona, Carol Pully and her brother, John White.
Vivian leaves behind her sisters, Genivieve McCord and Betty Henderson; special nieces, Eva of New Mexico, Cindy, Denise and Kathy. Also, special nephews, Carl and Johnny, and many more special family members. As well she leaves behind many friends from her church families, friends at Alpeter Senior Center and her beloved crocheted pet frogs.
Vivian was a member of God’s House of Grace, where she taught Sunday School, played the piano, sang and occasionally led worship. When the church closed, she moved to Spiritual Temple of Praise with Pastor Ron Chaffman. She became a member of River of Life Assembly of God in June 2022. Vivian was active in helping with anything she could find to do, including some office work. She was faithful in her attendance and always willing to help.
Vivian was the victim of a “hit and skip” tragedy, that knocked her off her motorized wheelchair and she was severely injured. This was in front of the Alpeter building and the Family Dollar on 5th Street in Barberton on October 27th. Vivian was coming home from church. Interestingly, her beloved grandma Cork was also the victim of a ‘hit and skip” tragedy in 1965. She was going to her mailbox in front of her house when she was hit by a car and passed away due to her injuries a week later. The similarities to Vivian’s tragedy are remarkable.
Vivian loved being around people, having fun with friends and talking about her faith in Jesus. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Friends may call from 10:30-11:00 a.m. for visitation, with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at River of Life Assembly of God, 133 5th St SE Barberton. Pastor Emlous Lattea and Pastor Diane Richmond officiating. The burial will take place at Stow Cemetery at a later time.
