William “Bill” Maltarich Sr left this world peacefully on July 25, 2022 at the age of 95. He was born in 1926 in Akron and lived his entire life in the city he loved. He graduated from Kenmore High School where he met and married Doris Kruft, the love of his life. Doris died in February 2022 after more than 75 years of marriage. He is survived by their five children Bill (Peggy), Ron (Kitty), Bob (Gayle), Barbara Costigan (Bill) and Diane Lukens (Scott). He was blessed with sixteen grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Louise Merle, Rose and John Stocker and numerous nieces and nephews.Raising and loving his family was the major focus of his life. He was loved by his family and many family friends. He worked for forty-four years at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and retired in 1988. He and Doris enjoyed a wonderful retirement of years of travel, babysitting, family celebrations, putzing around the house and bringing the local racinos to their knees. He was an avid sports fan cheering on his teams and his family members at Saint Vincent Saint Mary high school and Wooster College. In his later years he was a great fan of the Indians, Cavs and Browns. In heaven he surely continues to complain about the Indians not executing the sacrifice bunt. He was especially proud of the fact that every one of his children and grandchildren graduated from college with at least a bachelor’s degree.Grandpa will be missed greatly by the family but he will always be remembered as a loving, caring and remarkable man.The family expresses thanks and gratitude to the wonderful care givers at St. Edwards in Fairlawn who provided superb support of our dad.
