William M Smith

William (Bill) M. Smith died August 20, 2016. Bill was born in East Liverpool, Ohio July 24, 1919 to Walter A. and Helen M. Smith who predeceased him.
He came to Akron in December of 1945 following graduation from Ohio State University in 1943 and served in the United State Army in the Mediterranean Theater of Operation from 1943-1945.
Bill worked at various accounting positions from 1945-1950. In 1950 he joined Brown-Graves Company from which he retired in 1984. He was a member of Firestone Park Presbyterian Church and the Institute of Management Accountants.
Bill is survived by his sons, Walter (Catherine) of West Chester, Pennsylvania and Greg (Chris) of Richfield, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Van Fossan of Warren, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His wife, Helen died in 2005.
At Bill's request there are no calling hours nor funeral services. Cremation has taken place and a private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
